The cooling is centrally produced and distributed as chilled water to each building through  closed distribution pipe network.  District cooling provides chilled water for indoor cooling purposes to industrial, commercial and residential buildings. District cooling system distributes cooling capacity in the form of chilled water from a central plant to multiple buildings through a network of underground pipes.

Hot tapping, or pressure tapping, is the method of making a connection to existing piping without any shutdown of the system or pipe flow. This means that a pipe can continue to be in operation while maintenance or modifications are being performed.
